Giltrap Engineering – Timaru Branch is a New Zealand owned manufacturer of agricultural machinery. We design and manufacture machinery for the domestic and export markets including Australia, South Africa, Uruguay, Chile, Japan, Ireland and the UK, under the Duncan brand.
An opportunity has arisen for a machine assembler to join our existing assembly team. The role involves assembling, to a high standard of quality and proficiency, our range of Duncan seed drills at our Timaru factory. You will be part of a team working together to achieve shipping and customer deadlines. You will need to have a strong team work ethic to complement your mechanical skills and be capable of performing to a high standard of workmanship under minimal supervision. The nature of the job requires the lifting and placement of heavy components, you will need to be physically fit and capable of doing this type of work.
This role is a permanent full-time position with a guaranteed 40hrs per week. Normal working hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to work overtime during peak periods.
The successful applicant needs to:
• have mechanical aptitude
• be a practical, well organised, hands on person
• good communication skills
• an ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Class 1 (car) full drivers licence
Previous mechanical or assembly experience would be advantageous as would prior knowledge of farm machinery and their workings.
The successful applicant will need to pass a pre-employment drug test
